Dome types of nuts and bolts:

Also called acorn nut or the crown hex nut, blind nut, domed cap nut or simply the cap nut. A nut that has dome end on one side. There are two types of acorn nut:

• Low acorn nut or standard acorn nut
• High acorn nut

When used together with a threaded fastener with an external male thread, the domed end would enclose the external thread, this might happen either in order to protect the thread or to protect nearby objects from contact with the thread. Also, the dome gives a more finished appearance.

Application:

It is used for concealing ugly fasteners, securing sharp threads and thread protections.
